Experience

Before you vote for a candidate, you will hopefully consider closely if they have the experience to be on the Littleton City Council. I’ve been fortunate in my life to have worked in the private sector for a publicly traded company as a Senior Vice President of Operations, handling divisions of operations all over the United States. In this role I was responsible for revenue, but also expenses many times the budget of Littleton. I’ve worked with people and groups from all backgrounds and perspectives helping them achieve their career goals, and those they have for their families’ security.

One of my greatest joys is seeing others meet their goals and aspirations, and seeing them succeed. I have also run multiple small businesses, both as a sole owner, and as a partner in larger operations. I have seen first hand how government rules, regulations, and taxes can be very large considerations in the success of businesses. And I understand that government must be aligned with business, not a hindrance. This is critically important in Littleton, given our city is about 80% reliant on sales and use tax as its revenue source.

Motivation

I am not a politician. However, early in my college studies while earning my degree in Economics / Political Science, I initially thought I would go on to work in ‘government.’ I worked in an economic development department in Bellingham, Washington, where we worked to assist potential buyers realize their dream of home ownership. We also helped seniors and others that were struggling to make ends meet to keep their home and meet their budget. This, when home ownership was not nearly as expensive as it is today in Littleton, and most markets across the country!

I also worked for a time in the Washington State House of Representatives as an aid to a State Representative. While some of my experiences there ultimately led me to understand my career aspirations lay elsewhere, I came away with a deep respect for the positive work that can be accomplished and the importance of taking seriously how policy can affect outcomes.

Today, I am fortunate that I now can contribute my skills and time to the council. This was not the case when I was working long hours, traveling, and raising two boys. While I was able in the past to do some good volunteer work, such as reading programs with the Kiwanis group, and with a juvenile diversion program to help get teens back on the right track, I have not been able to ‘give back’ as much as I would like. Now I have that opportunity, to serve you! I hope you will give me that opportunity.
